Title Segment 1: Flowering Plants
Topic Topic 4: Plant Life
In Brief

Flowering plants are essential to life on Earth, providing food and oxygen through photosynthesis, and enriching landscapes with their beauty. These plants, also known as angiosperms, boast an incredible diversity of species, each adapted to unique environments.

The Sidmouth Nature Survey Project focuses on recording flowering plant species because their presence reflects the overall health of an ecosystem. The survey aims to track changes in the diversity and abundance of flowering plants over time, providing insight into the condition of the area's natural environment.

The project prioritises recording plants when they are in bloom because this is when they are most noticeable and easily identifiable, making the data more accessible and useful for the public.
